Good morning!
It’s been a while since our last update, but I just had to log in and share something happening in our community…
Fake $100 bills are appearing in various places, and nobody knows where they’re coming from!
I first encountered one at our local coin club when a member picked it up at an antique shop. As he showed it around, half of us, myself included, couldn’t immediately see anything wrong with it. Only after some hints did the obvious flaws become clear, which explains why many people are being scammed across town!
These bills look surprisingly realistic, and you might only spot the difference if you’re specifically checking their authenticity or noticing how they feel like regular paper, not currency. They’re what’s called “prop money,” used in movies or TV shows to look real, but they aren’t genuine.
I have no idea whether some movies are being filmed here or if a scammer decided to try their luck, but unfortunately, it’s working, and several businesses have already been fooled.
Check out the image above to see if you can spot the signs, then scroll back here and see if you caught them all.

[This side was so convincingly made that Photoshop wouldn’t let me open the image! I had to spend 15 minutes troubleshooting just to upload it here…]
I finally got a fake bill myself this week, and I was genuinely shocked. It was given to me as a gift, and I’m pretty sure the giver thought it was real. Little did she know, I actually *wanted* a fake for my collection! Lol…
Hopefully, someone will eventually get caught for this, but in the meantime, stay alert! Especially if you run a business!
XOXO,
