Good morning!
Last week, I showed off a custom coin board that I received from a friend in a trade. As I was praising him for how useful it’s been, he surprised me with a photo of his latest creation: a custom coin board table with legs! (See above)
Wow, he’s really outdone himself this time! Unlike the previous design, this one features removable cups for quicker access. Simply fill them up and swap them out without having to dig into the squares to manually scoop out coins—pure genius!
You’ll also notice a smooth sorting area for easy pouring and a raised edge to prevent any coins from falling off.
And the legs—did I mention they fold down for easy storage?
This new table has only 12 slots compared to the original’s 50, making it less extensive. However, it’s perfect for sorting just a handful of coins or focusing on a few countries. My friend usually starts with this coin board for initial sorting, then moves to the larger board for more detailed work, making it a fun two-step process!
I’ve included a picture of the original board for reference, and a couple shots of the new table, sans coins, to showcase its design:

Pretty cool, right?
It’s amazing how one hobby can enhance another. Fantastic work, my talented woodworking friend—congratulations!
And, just like my earlier offer, if you think this could be a game-changer for your own coin collection, send me a note. I’ll see if my friend is up for making more. He does have a soft spot for foreign coins! (Hint hint)
PS: We’ll return to our usual coin posts next time, but I couldn’t resist sharing another clever invention. Coin collectors truly are the best!
