Chase’s Silver Collection: A Presentation

Chase's Silver Collection: A Presentation

Good morning, fellow coin enthusiasts!

One of my newsletter readers shared a photo of his collection, and I thought you’d all love to see it. I asked him to provide a little background on his collection, and he gladly shared his thoughts below the photo.

Check out the unique Covid-19 stamp on that 5 oz. silver bar—it’s definitely something different!

From Chase:

I’ve been fascinated by coins for as long as I can remember, even in a casual sense. When I was a kid, my family would bring me coins from countries they visited, and many of them now find a place in my binder dedicated to having a coin from every country.

I’ve always been captivated by the journey a coin takes, passing from person to person across the world until it finally reaches me. It was only a couple of years ago that I really started sorting through my collection. When I discovered that some of my old coins contained silver and had intrinsic value, I was completely hooked.

Here’s a quick rundown—I have about 18 Troy Ounces of silver in the photo, divided into two categories: the “personal collection” and “just stacking silver.”

Some of my favorites are the American Silver Eagles, each containing 1 oz of fine silver. I have one for each family member’s birth year, which makes for a great coin or silver-themed gift—it’s special to have a coin that’s as old as you are!

I also have some interesting items, like the 5 oz hand-poured Bison Bullion bar stamped “Covid-19” and the beautiful “Mandalorian” round. Let’s see… I have my only graded piece, an 1889 Morgan Dollar (AU 58), and a 2 oz “Kraken” from the Royal Canadian Mint.

The common theme in my box is that everything is silver. I keep all non-silver coins in flips within a binder or in my state quarter/national parks books. My next challenge is to go coin roll hunting since my state quarter/national park books still have some blank spots.

Thanks for sharing, Chase! My collection also includes a good amount of bullion. I find it to be a great hedge against my stock-heavy investment portfolio, and if there’s ever a zombie apocalypse, having silver or gold at hand might come in handy! Plus, they look even more stunning when they become toned.

If any of you want to show off your collections, snap a pic and send me some background at j @ coin thrill (dot) com. Happy collecting!
