Good morning, coin enthusiasts!
One of my newsletter readers sent me a picture of his collection, and I thought you might enjoy taking a look. I asked him to share some background on it, and his response is below the image.
Check out the Covid-19 stamp on that 5 oz. silver bar! That’s something I haven’t seen before!

From Chase:
I’ve been interested in coins for as long as I can remember, at least on a basic level. My family used to bring me coins from the countries they visited when I was a kid, and many of those now sit in my binder, which focuses on having a coin from every country.
I’ve always been captivated by the idea that a coin has traveled through time and across continents before ending up with me. A few years ago, I started going through my collection more seriously, and when I discovered that some of my old coins contained silver, I became even more interested because of their material value.
Here’s a breakdown: I have about 18 troy ounces of silver in the photo, and the items fall into two categories: my “personal collection” and “just stackin’ silver.”
Some of my favorites are the American Silver Eagles, each containing 1 oz of fine silver. I have one for each birth year of my family. If you’re thinking of a coin or silver-related gift, this is a fantastic idea—it’s great to have a coin as old as you are!
I also have other interesting pieces, like the 5 oz hand-poured Bison Bullion bar stamped with “Covid-19,” and the “Mandalorian” round, which is stunning in person. Let’s see… I also have my only graded piece, an 1889 Morgan Dollar (AU 58), and a 2 oz “Kraken” from the Royal Canadian Mint.
The common theme in my collection is that everything contains silver. I keep non-silver coins in flips in a binder or in my state quarter/national parks books. My next goal is to try coin roll hunting, as I still have a few gaps in my state quarter/national park books.

Thanks for sharing, Chase! Most of my collection features some kind of bullion too. It’s a nice way to balance my stock-heavy investment portfolio and could come in handy if we ever revert to using silver or gold in a post-apocalyptic scenario. Plus, they look so much nicer when they develop that attractive toning!
If anyone else wants to share their collections, just snap a photo and email me some background at j @ coin thrill (dot) com! Happy collecting!
