Today, I want to share a little ritual I have with my coins after acquiring them through trades or purchases. Recently, I wrote about where I store them—either in a “box” or a “binder”—but before they find a home in either, I like to keep them on my desk beneath my computer monitor. They stay there for a few weeks or even months until I feel like I’ve appreciated them fully.
This habit serves a couple of purposes:
I’ve been doing this for about a year now, and it’s enhanced my appreciation for each coin. It also adds a nice break to my workday when I get distracted and take a moment to admire one;)
You might recognize a few error coins I wrote about last week. I’m about to replace some of the older ones in the box with the coins from the 1800s that I mentioned recently.
Here’s a rundown of what’s in the photo:
Overall, it’s a fun way to enjoy new additions to your collection before they’re tucked away and possibly forgotten. Plus, if you’re collecting more coins than you can afford, this little display might remind you to cut back 😉
I hope this gives you some new ideas…

PS: The sticky note in picture #1 that says “Wake up and do nothing” is a nod to a great article I read recently. The piece talked about automating your finances, so you rarely need to worry about them. It also serves as a reminder for me to focus on building passive income so one day I can choose to do absolutely nothing if I want to—except maybe spend the day hunting for coins 😉
PPS: Please don’t judge my messy desk!
