Also, hi there! It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
Things have definitely been a bit chaotic since our last blog post back in 2018. I hope you’re all staying safe, healthy, and, of course, still enjoying your collecting hobby!
I’ve missed attending coin club meetings lately, but it’s understandable given the current situation. In the meantime, I’ve been browsing coins online and helping friends and family sell collections they no longer want to keep.
It’s always a bit sad to see these collections go, but going through them and discovering what others have collected over the years is fascinating. My latest find included $20 St. Gaudens gold coins (my favorite!), early 20th-century European silver and gold coins, over 100 Morgan and Peace dollars, lots of pre-64 silver coins, wheat pennies, and even some old U.S. large notes I hadn’t seen up close before.
Check out a photo I took before diving in:
I usually keep a few coins as “payment” for my time and help sell the rest to friends and coin club members. It takes about 30-40 hours to inventory, grade, sell, and collect payments, but it’s always a fun process, and I look forward to starting again after a short break.
I’ve also put together a guide on how to sell inherited coin collections on my personal finance site. If you find it helpful, feel free to pass it along to anyone who might need it:
How to Sell Your Inherited Coin Collection
Hopefully, you’ll never need to use it, but if you or a friend do, feel free to reach out. Even though I’m not always active on this blog, I’m always online and happy to help, especially when it comes to coins!
Apologies for my long absence. I hope everyone is doing well, and let’s keep in touch! I’d love to hear about your recent collecting adventures. No one at home shares my enthusiasm, and we’re kind of stuck here together for now.
Happy collecting!
