Our Town is Being Overrun with Prop Money!

Our Town is Being Overrun with Prop Money!

Good morning!

It’s been a while since we last posted, but I felt compelled to share a new trend happening in our community.

Fake $100 bills are appearing everywhere, and nobody knows their origin!

The first one I encountered was at our local coin club when a member brought it in after picking it up at an antiques shop. As it circulated among us, many — myself included — couldn’t immediately detect anything off. It wasn’t until we got some hints that the fake markings became obvious, which explains why so many people around town are being deceived!

These bills look remarkably real, and unless you’re examining them closely for authenticity or noticing their texture, which feels like paper rather than actual currency, you’d miss that they’re “prop money.” This is the kind of money used in movies or TV shows, designed to look genuine but isn’t.

I have no idea if filming is happening here or if a scammer is testing his luck, but unfortunately, it’s working, and several businesses have already been fooled.

Check out the image above and see if you can spot the signs, then scroll down here to see if you noticed them all.

[The design was so convincing that Photoshop refused to open the image! I had to find a workaround that took 15 minutes to finally upload it here.]

I finally got my own this week, and couldn’t believe it. It was given to me as a gift, and I’m 99% sure the giver thought it was genuine. Little did she know, I actually *wanted* a fake for my collection! Haha…

Let’s hope someone gets caught soon, but until then, stay vigilant! Especially if you own a business!

XOXO,
