Today, I wanted to share something I do with my coins after acquiring them through trades or purchases. Recently, I blogged about where these coins end up in my collection—either in the “box” or the “binder.” However, before they find their permanent home, I like to keep them on my desk beneath my computer monitor for a few weeks or months, until I’ve had my fill of admiring them. 🙂
Doing this serves several purposes:
I’ve been following this practice for about a year now, and it’s really deepened my appreciation for the coins. Plus, it provides a nice break during my workday when I take a moment to pick up a coin and admire it. 😉
You’ll see a few of those error coins I blogged about last week, and I’m about to switch out some of the older ones in that box with the 1800’s coins I recently blogged about.
Here’s a rundown of what’s in the picture:
Overall, this is a fun way to appreciate new coins in your collection before they’re tucked away and potentially forgotten. And if you find yourself acquiring more coins than your budget can handle, this display might remind you to slow down a bit. 😉
I hope this gives you a few ideas!

PS: About that “Wake up and do nothing” sticky note in picture #1—it refers to a fantastic article I read about automating your finances so you don’t have to worry about them constantly. It’s also a reminder for me to build passive income streams so I can choose to spend my time doing nothing if I want to retire early. You know, aside from coin hunting all day! 😉
PPS: Please don’t judge my messy desk!
